How It Works

The Comprehensive Leader is based on extensive research of both academic and practitioner literature on leadership. The Model of Comprehensive Leadership is based on the belief that active knowledge, or the continued act of gaining, building, and using knowledge, is at the center of strong, visionary leadership.

The Model of Comprehensive Leadership captures the four dimensions of leadership knowledge necessary for visionary leadership:

1. Know yourself
2. Know others
3. Know your organization
4. Know the world

Ultimately, the key to successful, visionary leadership is both the knowledge and practical application of each of these dimensions. The assessment presents 40 statements regarding current leadership behavior. After scoring is complete, participants create a profile by plotting their subscores in the four dimensions of leadership on charts. Feedback scores provide a side-by-side comparison. Participants then review the 15 possible leadership profiles. Finally, thought-provoking questions encourage individuals to find insight from the assessment results and take action for improvement.

Uses and Applications

The Comprehensive Leader is effective as a stand-alone instrument or as a component of a larger training initiative.

Paper Assessment 5-Pack: Order One Pack for Up to Five Participants – The print version is ideal for facilitators who prefer to oversee scoring and administration of the assessment if you don’t know who the participants will be before the class begins, or if your learners do not have easy access to computers. It includes pressure-sensitive forms for scoring to aid manual tabulation.

Paper Feedback Forms 5-Pack: Provide at Lease Three Forms Per Individual. (Recommended)  Feedback Forms submitted by peers provide the data to create a second – or “feedback” – profile for each participant. They include a 30-statement assessment and pressure-sensitive response form.
