Make a Good First Impression DVD
Most employers form an impression of a job seeker in the first seconds of the interview if it isn’t good, very few job seekers can overcome it.
- Presents the traits that create a positive impression during interviews, traits that are within the control of the job seeker.
- Partial list of traits covered: enthusiasm, maturity, confidence, appearance, verbal and body language, initiative, and more.
Most employers form an impression of a job seeker in the first few seconds of the interview. If that impression is negative, few job seekers are able to change the employer’s mind.
Armed with the guidance in this DVD, job seekers won’t have to worry about recovering from a bad first impression. They’ll know just what it takes to make a great impression right from the get-go.
This DVD teaches viewers about the importance of appearance, confidence, maturity, emotional stability, and enthusiasm, and reveals how to improve upon these areas before an interview. The video also covers interview taboos, such as being late, answering cell phones, and revealing tattoos. Group interviews, bad interviewers, and phone interviews will also be covered.
The program offers scenarios of interviews in action and includes the insights of job search experts and employers. Convenient pause points let instructors stop the program for discussion.
Self-scoring, self-interpreting, assesses job search knowledge in five areas all in one eight-panel folder, no other components needed.
- Test takers respond to 60 true/false statements.
- A simple self-scoring grid provides an immediate graphic picture of relative strengths and weaknesses in the five areas.
- The inside panels include a four-panel chart with information about the five job search areas, including proven tips and additional information sources.
- Use as a pre- and post-test.
The Job Search Knowledge Scale (JSKS) helps determine how much an individual knows about looking for work. Test takers respond to 60 true/false statements to discover the job search skills they need to develop to find work faster.
The JSKS offers guidance on the job search methods that work best and provides journaling space to establish job search goals. The assessment saves time and resources by helping people focus on key areas of the job search as needed and land a job more quickly.
It also allows counselors and other professionals to match individual needs with specific job search training. The JSKS works well as an intake assessment and as a pre-test and post-test for educators, workforce development professionals, and counselors who need to prove their results and effectiveness. It also serves as an ideal complement to most of JIST’s job search books, workbooks, and videos.
The JSKS assesses an individual’s knowledge in five areas:
- Identifying job leads
- Applying directly to employers
- Writing resumes and cover letters
- Interviewing
- Following up
