About this Test
The TRUST Test (Trait Based Risk & Unethical Style Assessment) helps to evaluate one’s everyday behavioural traits, risk-aversion, and overall job stability. It assesses counterproductive or anti-social workplace behaviors before an organization invests time and money into onboarding.
Purpose
The TRUST assessment evaluates normal, work-related personality traits related to anti-social behaviors such as aggression, theft, substance abuse, rule-breaking, and dishonesty, as well as risk taking tendencies and job stability. We recommend using this short inventory as a pre-screening tool or as an add-on to an existing aptitude test.
Note: a Canadian version without drug/alcohol scales is available.
What’s It Best Used For
- Evaluating Four Core Risk Categories: It scores candidates across vital behavioral categories, including Workplace Nonviolence & Drug Avoidance, Trustworthy & Ethical, Dependable & Stable, and Safety-Minded & Rule Following.
- Spotting Dependable High-Performers: Candidates who earn a Strong rating are flagged as highly ethical, emotionally resilient individuals who are likely to follow company rules and regulations with minimal supervision.
- Flagging High-Risk Hires: Applicants scoring in the Needs Review or Moderate ranges are identified as potentially emotionally reactive, prone to rule-breaking, or needing excessive long-term supervision, signaling to HR teams that a heavier reliance on background and reference checks is warranted.
- Cross-Border Legal Compliance: To ensure seamless implementation across different geographic hiring pools, a specialized Canadian version is available that completely omits the drug and alcohol testing scales to match local privacy standards.

Score interpretation
Strong: Candidates scoring in this range will likely be more ethical, dependable, emotionally resilient and rule following compared to lower scorers.
Moderate: Candidates scoring in the Moderate range will be less ethical, trustworthy, dependable, resilient and rule following than higher scorers. If hired, they may need extra support and supervision beyond the initial training phase of the job.
Needs Review: Candidates scoring in this range may have trouble adhering to rule and regulations, may exhibit anti-social tendencies or behave in emotionally reactive ways, especially in stressful situations. A greater reliance on the results of background and reference checks may be warranted.
Prior to making a decision to hire, a thorough follow up interview is highly recommended if a candidate scores in a “Needs Review” level for any category.
