Desert Survival Situation II
The Desert Survival Situation II is a paper-based group training simulation designed to help organizations evaluate and develop a team’s communication, interpersonal dynamics, and collaborative problem-solving skills. Taking between 2½ to 3½ hours to complete (including scoring and debriefing), this exercise drops participants into a realistic plane crash scenario in the Sonora Desert. Unlike the first version, this advanced simulation requires participants to first diagnose their major threats and lock in a core survival strategy before prioritizing 16 salvaged items—first individually, and then as a unified group. The hand-scored results are compared to an objective expert baseline to measure team synergy and communication efficacy.

Envisioning a Culture for Quality™ is an interactive paper-based team training exercise designed to raise awareness of behaviors that drive high-quality service while strengthening collective consensus decision-making skills. This exercise takes 2 to 2½ hours to complete (including scoring and debriefing) and challenges participants to rank-order 24 distinct behavioral norms based on their impact on service excellence. Participants solve the simulation individually before collaborating as a group; their hand-scored answers are then compared against empirical research data from over 350 organizations to measure team synergy and highlight how effectively the group leverages its collective problem-solving skills.
