The interview is the most important 60 minutes in the job search. Yet research indicates that most people are not well-prepared for the interview process. Effective interviewing skills are critical in finding employment. However, not all people approach employment interviews the same. How you approach an interview is often a function of your personality. This could be considered your interview style, and each style has its own strengths and weaknesses. The Interview Style Inventory is designed to help users identify their approach to employment interviewing based on their personality. By identifying their approach, users can then focus on their interviewing strengths and weaknesses and work to become more skilled at this crucial process.
The assessment itself is color-coded, easy to use, takes less than twenty minutes to complete and score, and is useful for any job seeker. Once they determine their scores, users explore their strong and weak areas as well as suggestions for improving their interviewing skills. A worksheet at the end encourages users to plan out the strategies they will use in their next interview, capitalizing on their strengths and improving on their weaknesses. Ideal as a means of assessing an individual’s interview skills or as a starting point to discussing effective interview strategies, the ISI is a completely unique assessment focused on the part of the job search that scares job seekers the most.
