The Patient Care Assessment is designed for use with all patient-facing staff in the Healthcare industry and assists with improving patient satisfaction. This assessment also aligns with all relevant aspects of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), focusing on patient care as it relates to employees’ interactions with patients.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Measured

Communication: measures the tendency to seek and enjoy social interaction, be friendly, sociable, warm, likeable, pleasant, and easy to work with. It also measures the ability to be comfortable working with new people and thrive on social contact, such as working with others.

Helpfulness: measures the preference for valuing agreement, consensus, and cohesiveness among people and being receptive to others’ attempts to build relationships. It also measures the ability to demonstrate sensitivity to others’ needs and feelings, and be understanding, helpful, and cooperative. Lastly, it measures the tendency to accept people readily and value connections with others.

Motivation: measures the ability to set and accomplish challenging goals, take satisfaction and pride in producing high quality work, and excel in one’s own efforts. It measures the tendency to work hard, exert effort, and persist despite significant obstacles.

Composure: measures the ability to think clearly and take effective action when confronted with stressful or negative situations. It also measures the tendency to maintain a positive outlook when criticized, putting aside worries and guilt.

Responsibility: measures the ability to be accountable for one’s actions and consequences and consistently honor commitments and responsibilities. It also measures the tendency to demonstrate reliability and planfulness, not becoming distracted or bored by routine tasks, and not procrastinating even when tasks are unpleasant or unexciting.

Accuracy: measures the ability to meticulously keep track of details without becoming overwhelmed by them, being exacting, precise, and accurate. It also measures the tendency to spot minor imperfections or errors and take action to correct them.

Assertiveness: measures the ability to negotiate effectively with others, influentially assert one’s ideas and thoughts, and adeptly move others to support a decision or course of action.

Adaptability: measures the ability to easily and effectively handle change. It measures the tendency to demonstrate flexibility in approaching work, like variety in work, and work effectively with many different types of people in various situations and with differing constraints.
